The elimination series, which saw five contestants out of 12 kiss goodbye to their dreams of becoming the next Nigerian music star, once again gave opportunity to seven finalists to perform at the Sigma Nightclub, Victoria Island, Lagos, last Wednesday.

The event tagged "Songs of Originality" was created from a "D-I-Y" (do it yourself) initiative, where each contestant composed and sang their songs in any language. It was aimed at encouraging contestants to believe in themselves beyond singing songs already written, recorded and performed by other musicians. This way, they can aspire to be Nigeria's leading voices and representatives on the global entertainment scene. ...

The last contestant, Justina Ogunlolu, a natural performer, sang "Ashikituga" in Delta-Igbo, meaning all you told me were lies. Justina says, "My song was inspired by experience from my last relationship. I was deceived and left broken-hearted."
